Job Overview:
As a Carpenter at Kozzy Beds Ltd, you will play a crucial role to construct, erect, install and repair wooden structures and fittings used in internal and external frameworks and cut, shape, fit and assemble wood to make templates, jigs, scale models and scenic equipment for theatres. You will ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship and safety while delivering projects on time and within budget.
Job description:
Design & Drawing:
examine drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
Follow project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accuracy.
Implementation:
selects and measures appropriate wood and cuts, shapes and drills to specification using saws, planes, chisels and other power or hand tools.
aligns and fixes prepared wood pieces by screwing, nailing, gluing and dowelling to form frames, shop fronts, counter units, decking, theatrical sets, furniture, small wooden craft, scale models and wooden templates.
maintains and repairs woodwork and fittings.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with other team members, including labourers, site supervisors, and other tradespeople, to ensure smooth workflow.
Communicate effectively with clients and supervisors to discuss project progress and address concerns.
Safety and Compliance:
Follow all health and safety regulations on-site/workshop
checks accuracy of work with square, rule and spirit level
Use tools and equipment responsibly and ensure proper maintenance.
Other Duties:
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the worksite/workshop.
Assist with other general construction tasks when required.
Person Specification:
Proven experience as a Carpenter, with a strong portfolio of completed work.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
Excellent skills in measuring, cutting, and shaping materials accurately.
Demonstrated ability to work on residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
Understanding of wood, materials, techniques, and processes.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working at heights.
Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a practical mindset.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
